 Poverty Does Matter

The American government has been established when the world was still young and just like everything else that needs time for creation and endless modification to obtain perfection, centuries and great leaders made it possible for the country to reach superpower. Through the government’s efforts, USA remains united and progressive.

A united nation only reflects people who are satisfied with the government. Given that Americans spend huge percentages of their salary for taxes, it is amazing that the government can maintain its people’s and satisfaction. Is it for the laws that are directly to the people’s advantage, which to begin with should be the case anyway?

America is liberal to diversity. This is why each member of the society is given importance and esteem. A country’s social security is a good measurement government’s efficiency. By the vast benefits the US provides its people, you can tell that the government is doing their job. And good, at that.

The US social security has established old-age benefits that are paid to all employees based upon wages received. It is a good reward and incentive for people who work for the country. It however does not place discrimination over people who are not fit for the work force. There is the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for people who have not worked enough or have not worked at all in the past 10 years to be insured for Disability benefits. The federal government and the Social Security Administration have control of this disability program but the funds paid do not come out of the Social Security fund but through other government allocation.

There are two requirements to be eligible under the Supplemental Security Income benefits in California. A person must be disabled and Whether or not a person is disabled is determined under the rules for disability insurance. Since this benefit is based on financial need, a person must also have very low income or resources.

Social security checks all other property and income in the household a person lives in like the spouse’s but not all assets are considered as some, like parent support by and after 18 of age are immaterial. In-kind support a person receives from others may also count in determining financial eligibility. Unlike other disability benefits, SSI does not support dependent children of a disabled. The disabled is also entitled to Medicaid benefits.

The US government has sufficient funds to cover for the disabled proletariat and amidst today’s strong commercialism. Supplemental Security Income may just make Karl Marx proud.
